There is an initial orientation of the island and surrounding areas. The Captain will fully explain how to operate the provided boat and motor. He'll also bring you to the house, let you settle in, and answer all the questions you might have after giving you a full tour of the intercoastal waterways and nearby islands.

Nearby Bear Island is a 3.5-mile long barrier island owned by the State of North Carolina. It is preserved as a nature park and it's pristine, remote beaches, untouched maritime forest, which covers most of the island, and towering sand dunes provide a real adventure in itself. It is accessible only by boat! No Roads. No Concessions. A Nature lovers paradise!

Nearby Huggins Island is a 211-acre natural island owned by the State of North Carolina. The Island is considered a Globally Rare and Significant Area, according North Carolina Division of Parks and Recreation. The remains of an earthen Civil War fort and numerous Indian artifacts can be found on the Island, as well.

The nearby White Oak River flowing out of the Croatan National Forest provides distinctly different river environments in one short twelve mile stretch - a broad salt water coastal river with marsh & sand covered banks to dark fresh water streams with moss and cypress trees. Where else could you catch both salt water and fresh water fish in the same day?
